Statham is the only person I can think of who would have both a stethoscope and a desk on which to put it. It also seems to have enough little neatly organised things and sticky notes in a super-organised enough way to be his. Bit confused as to what the bit black thing is, and I'm sure - if it is his desk - that his computer's changed ends since series one.

I suppose Sue White might have a stethoscope, just because. But there aren't enough books (or a scorch line, or a lion cub in a bassinette...)

Statham, I guess then...

Yeah, it might be Statham's... i was going by the fact that there is the big bag on his desk, which is what he was throwing stuff into when he was going to run away in ep8... or at least i think its the same bag...

Stathams! I recognise those pens from when Joanna picks them up and he goes "not the pens".. at least, I think I do.

Hmmm... I thought Statham. But why would a radiologist have a stethoscope? Not sure but I do like the high tech hole punch.

I think it's maybe Statham's, but the only reason I think that is because I'm sure that's where his phone sits usually lol.

Hm, I'd say Statham too, not really very sure though.

I'd say statham too. not sure though. but I think his is the only white desk, apart from joanna's. and why would she have a stethoscope there?

this is great - a bit trickier than the earlier ones! :)

Sue White...surely.

"Well, I have a hole punch. Let's not get carried away."

And I recognise the triangular logo on some of the files; the one which appears on Mac's results. And I'm sure Sue was behind the bad news.

Hehe..so there.

I'm impressed by your answers...it is in fact the desk of Dr Alan Statham.
Well done

Is Emily right then, that the big black blob thing the bag from when he and Joanna went on the run then? Cos that really threw me... Couldn't work out at all what it was or why it was there.

Really!?

Colour me stupid.

*thinks* So HE fiddled the notes? :p

Yes, the bag was from the scene when he goes on the run...it wouldn't normally be on his desk.

... or it could be that that's the hospital logo (seen very clearly as early as season 1, ep2 when Caroline is asking Boyce who the biggest scumbag is, Mac or Guy) so it's probably on quite a few of their documents.

Lol & also, there's a distinctly GREEN stain on the desk by the lamp/hole punch..I'm sure a forensics team would just love to know how that green substance appeared on Statham's desk ;)

Paula; you're very probably right. But I'm forever the optimist.

Pah.

Just because the results weren't forged by Sue White doesn't mean you can't be optimistic. There are plenty of other theories to go with that don't require the documents to have been forged by her.

My theory is that he's gone off to try and deal with it, so the fading out shot was to symbolise him leaving, rather than the nasty thing we all refuse to mention/believe. Caroline will realise he went missing, as it will seem to her, rather than abandoned her and... erm... ok, that still leaves nasty test results but... erm... Hm, I'll work on that.

I don't see why Sue would forge documents telling him that when she loves him so... obsessively. What would it achieve?

Initially I think it was because she'd snapped after the Restraining Order.

And her 'killing off Mac' would fit nicely into the distinct Lion King theme that had become evident in her mania. 'Simba lived because Mufasa died' etc. I don't think she'd think twice about telling him he was dying. She did, after all; set Alan on fire and the likes, Tried to murder Caroline...stole Mac's minimacs...

Sue unsettled me a little in the last episode. I still LOVE her, but I'm unsettled.

The difference is, she hates Caroline and no one likes Statham (and she didn't actually set him on fire, she set her desk on fire and he caught his arm on it). I guess she could have snapped because of the restraining order, or have done it to try and scupper his and Caroline's relationship, but... I just... She loves him.. and...

Why are you so sure it wasn't anyone else if it's forged? Say... Guy? He'd have equal reason, it's been demonstrated before that he doesn't know where to draw the line (the whole bit where he's teasing Mac about Holly in the first series) and at the station he admits Mac's a really good bloke like he knows something's up.

I'm not saying it's Guy, because I can't see him doing that either, but I can't see Sue doing it, so...

Also, he got the test results on the same day as he issued her with the restraining order. She would have had to have known he was due to receive more test results (which, ok, she's stalkerish enough to) and, even if she had known, would she have had time? The guy said they'd 'explored every avenue' which implied they'd known longer than that day, in order to have had time to research it. And would Sue have enough medical knowledge to accurately falsify test results that conclusive?

Surely a consultant like Statham could afford a decent stethoscope?!
